Toxicology and Pharmacology Laboratory of the University of Leuven
Research at the laboratory focuses on two main research fields: Forensic Toxicology and Drug Discovery and Pharmacology. The laboratory is headed by Prof. Jan Tytgat and Prof. Eva Cuypers is a principal investigator in the field of Forensic Toxicology.
Research Objectives of the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory
Optimization of toxicological analytical methods and tools and the detection of human decomposition volatiles are the two main areas of research. These program lines directly originate from the lab's involvement in case work for judicial dossiers at the request of the Ministry of Justice of Belgium.
In addition to the permanent staff also PhD students as well as national and international master students are involved in the research activities.
